Saint Anysia
A Greek virgin martyr.
The main thing known about Saint Anysia, from modern-day Thessaloniki in Greece, is her death. On her way to mass one day in the early 4th century, she was stopped by a Roman soldier, who'd noticed her veil of chastity. He demanded she come with him to sacrifice to some sun god. She pulled away, he ripped off her veil, and she spit in his face, shouting, "My Lord Jesus Christ forbids you!" He stabbed her then and there.
