Saint Abbán
And a lonesome Irish shrine.
Before Abbán died in the 6th century, he lived for 300 years, some say. Just outside Ballyvourney, Ireland, there’s a shrine at the site of his passing, in a cell in a church that he built. Well, now it’s just a few mossy rocks. Deeper into the forest, lucky hikers might find a simple stone covering the saint’s long-forgotten well.
